A R Rahman is back with a bang and this time with 13 songs in his new album Slumdog Millionaire which includes two songs by M.I.A and 1 song from movie Don (new one).

MIA has teamed up with famed Indian producer A.R. Rahman on several tracks for the forthcoming soundtrack to 'Slumdog Millionaire'.

”O Saya” : performed by A R Rahman & M.I.A. is one of the finest tracks in this album. It is the first song of this album and moment you hear it you know A.R Rahman has did it again. Beats in this song are too rocking and you can literally feel the hard work put in it. M.I.A and A.R Rahman’s vocals make it a one of a rocking number.

”Riots” : by A. R Rahman is an instrumental number. The beats and the use of instruments do justice to the title of the song. It sure gives you a sense of Riot and tension related to it.

“Mausam & Escape” : by A R Rahman is a kind of fusion song. A.R Rahman knows how to bring music from two different cultures together and make a masterpiece out of it. The use of Drum in this instrumental number is superb and way music from Sitar and Violin is added to it is amazing. It sure does justice to fusion.

“Paper Planes” : is performed by M.I.A. No it is not a rock number but it would surely make you tap your feet and move your head. In short you would definitely enjoy it. The best thing, which I liked about this song, is sound of four gunshots, then reloading the gun and then the sound of cash register.

“Paper Planes” : DFA REMIX Performed by M.I.A. is the remix version of previous one but is more slower. The use of Saxophone adds peppiness to this song. Though it gets bit slow and monotonous by the end.

”Ringa Ringa” : by A R Rahman featuring Alka Yagnik & Ila Arun would remind you of your old days. How many of you liked the song Choli Ke Peeche? Well, this number is the same except for the fact that lyrics has been changed, Choli ke Peeche has be replaced by Ring Ring Ringa . On top of that Ila Arun sure seems the right choice for this number.

“Liquid Dance” : by A R Rahman featuring Palakkad Sriram & Madhumitha is again a fusion number. The use of violin and notes by Palakkad Sriram and Madhumitha makes this number a classic example of fusion though it has not come closer to the fusion song from movie Morning Raga – “Thaye Yashooda”.

“Latika’s Theme” : by A R Rahman featuring Suzanne is a slow number, The humming song by Suzanne adds a soothing touch to it. Suzanne yes the same who sung ‘Aye Bachchu’ in Ghajini.

“Aaj Ki Raat” : performed by Sonu Nigam, Mahalaxmi Lyer & Alisha Chinoi is the same number from new movie DON. You all are aware of it by now. Song is good and it is sung by three great singers of Bollywood. That says it all about this song.

”Millionaire” : by A R Rahman featuring Madhumitha is okay kind of number. Beats are fast and background sound by Madhumitha adds a human touch to it. Though it does not leave a long lasting impact. More of an Instrumental it is.

“Gangsta Blues” : by A R Rahman featuring BlaaZe & Tanvi Shah is a gangster number by all means. No it is not Nelly or Jay Z. Though it sounds like a gangsta number but it is bit slow.

“Dreams on Fire” : by A R Rahman featuring Suzzanne is a slow, soothing and a very sweet English number. Suzzanne has again proved how good she is in singing. I first heard her in Ghajini’s Aye Bachchu song. She sounds good and the use of flute in this song adds more soothness to it. It would sure make you relax.

“Jai Ho” by A R Rahman featuring Sukhvinder Singh, Tanvi Shah & Mahalaxmi Iyer is a fast and patriotic number. Remember Sukhvinder Singh who sung the famous Chak De song; hope Jai Ho gets popular the same way. A.R Rahman who is known for his patriotic song Maa Tujhe Salaam has come up with yet another patriotic song. In the end of the song the use of violin has added a nice touch to it.

So if songs of Ghajini, which are composed by A.R. Rahman, disappointed you all then you should listen to this album. He has back to prove his critics wrong. I personally loved the songs from this album. I would rate it 4 out of 5.

PS : Incase you do not like instrumental, fusion numbers you may not like this album.

Here is what I have to say about it’s music

'Guzarish' – Lyrics written by Prasoon Joshi (famous for song MAA from movie Taare Zameen Pe) and sung by Javed Ali. The lyrics are absolute fantastic and A.R Rahman’s music makes it a great song. Sonu Nigam did hummed ohhh and aahhh in this song adding his contribution to make this song beautiful.

‘Aye Bachchu’ – A fast track number sung by Suzanne is something like Patshala from Rang De Basanti. No they do not sound similar, but the kind of music used by A.R Rahman in this song is as unique and different as it was used in Patshala song.

'Kaise Mujhe' – is sung by Benny Dayal and Shreya Goshal. Though this song is a beautiful song and is a slow number but it does not appeal too much. May be once or twice but then one would soon get bored with it. This is where one may not feel it’s A.R Rahman’s work. Shreya has done a good job as usual.

‘Behka’ – sung by Karthik. The Saxophone used in this song adds a nice touch to it. You may hear a bit of different vocals in this song. Since A.R Rahman composed it, do not expect it to follow the same old way of singing. Rahman tried to add bit of rock touch to this song however it gets faded out soon. Oh in this song Aamir appears six different hairstyle.

'Latoo' – sung by Shreya. Although it is a fast number but it does not come anywhere closer to Aye Bachchu sung by Suzanne. May be Suzanne should have tried this number. Fillers used in this song is bit weird too, like thoda thoda Zimbawe, mazari mazara Zimbawe and Uganda. It may suit well only if the song is shoot in Africa or it has something to do with Africa.

Last is instrumental version of 'Kaise Mujhe' is a decent number. Although you won’t be able to notice any difference between the background score of the song Kaise Mujhe with vocal except that instead of vocals ‘flute’ and ‘guitar’ has been used. Apart from that everything sounds similar.

So in the end only Guzarish, Aye Bachu and Behka makes a good impact and other three may make you feel disappointed.

My rating would be 3 out of 5.

Music Composer - Sachin Gupta.

Songs of Dil Kabaadi seems to be inspired from other songs, though you cannot inter relate the songs with any other song, yet the tunes do match at times.

Ehsaan - sung by Sachin is a nice song, though tune sounds very familiar. Sad yet not a slow song. At first you may not like the song but when you hear it again and again you may get hooked to it.

Uthale ya Phenk De - sung by Jaspreet Singh and Aditya Jassi is fun song. Again you may feel the tune is very familiar. The song would give you a hint about what the movie is all about. "Uthale ya Phenk De, Le le ya Chod de", does not make sense. Imagine a guy singing neighbor ka husband bhi acha lagta hai and den praising the doggy of his neighbor. The song is more confusing one, though tune is good. A Peppy dance number.

Zindagi Ye - sung by Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan’s nephew Rahet Fateh Ali Khan is a nice number. Again you can feel the song is very familiar to Bol na Halke Halke. It's a soothing number. Rahet Fateh Ali Khan is known for his soulful performance.

Ok-Tata-Done - sung by Mika err not exactly singing. Yeah this number is more like speaking than singing. It's more like instrumental and may be used as a background score in the movie.

Nasha Nashila - Sung by Poroma and Jaspreet Singh. The flute played in the background is the same that is played in Timbaland & Magoo’s hit ‘Indian Flute’.

Goodnight - sung by Jaspreet Singh, Poroma and Monali is very funny. Lyrics is written by Virag Mishra. The song offers not much. Punjabi dialogs in this song may add to its funniness.

Zindagi Ye(Rock Version) - Is not at all rocking. Please someone tell Mr. Gupta what Rock means. The song has been badly edited to make it look like rock song.

Ehsaan (Remix) - is a okay number, You may hear it playing in Clubs n Discs. The beats are again the one which you may have heard over and again in many other remix songs.

Over all It's not worth it. I would rate it 2 out of 5.

Not many songs in this movie though I was expecting atleast 5 songs (excluding Remix version).

The Choice of singer for this album is indeed interesting. Sonu Nigam and Kailaash Kher raise the standards of the singing industry yet again. The use of instruments like Acoustic guitar, Mouth Organ etc. adds to it's refreshing touch.

Alvida - sung by Kailash Kher is a masterpiece. He is a great singer and he did it again with Alvida, though at times you would feel the tune matches with his famous track 'teri deewani'. I am sure many would love it.

Mumma - again sung by Kailash Kher is a beautiful song. Guitar plays its magic in this number. A Heart touching song, indeed. I would rate it 5 out of 5. Not many instruments has been used in this song, Acoustic Guitar sounds so refreshing.

Muskura - Sung by Sonu Nigam sounds like a retro number. The song is full of positive vibes. The use of 'mouth organ' adds a refreshing touch to it.

The album indeed reminds you the importance of the originality, whether it be of lyrics, tune or instruments.

Overall I would rate it 4 out of 5, though I wish there were more songs in this album.

PS: The Music Composer of this album is none other than Kailash Kher along with Naresh and Paresh.

I am not sure how many of you are aware of Ramchand Pakistani, A movie that was released in India on 2nd Oct. 2008.

I have not seen the movie yet but what I gathered from net about this movie is as follows.

The movie, starring Indian actress Nandita Das, is a real-life story of an eight-year-old Pakistani Hindu boy who strays across the Indo-Pakistan border and is captured by Indian police. His father, who goes looking for him, is also arrested and the two spend years in jail after being labelled as spies.

Mehreen's father Javed Jabbar wrote the story of the film, which he produced.

Nandita Das plays Champa, the woman whose eight-year-old son Ramchand and husband disappears from their village near Nagarparkar, located along the border with India.

Talking about its Music : All the songs of this album are very soothing and refreshing.

With Ramchand Pakistani, traditional folk music is dug up and reinvented to fit today's times without loosing its edge.

The Album starts with “Phir Wohi Raastey”: A slow number sung by Shafqat Amanat is full of emotions and pain. Song, which talks about the pain of someone who is lost between two nations and trying to get back to his home.

“Teri Meri Preet” sung by Shubha Mudgal is a lively number with a soothing experiencing. The song is full of love and Shubha did a splendid singing. the song shares the vibe with the Rajsthani folk music.

“Meri Maati” again sung by Shubha Mudgal is a slow number. The song is about a woman who has lost her family and is expressing her hope to get them back. It’s too slow for everybody’s liking.

“Allah Megh Dey” sung by Shubha Mudgal and Shafqat Amanat Ali is a song of hope and a peppy number. It is one of my favorite songs. This is a soulful and compelling rendition of an already memorable track. Lyric of this song is again a superb one.

“Yaar Dhadee” sung by Ustad Juman would take you to old days of 50s n 60s. Would give you a sense of you hearing it on live. I don’t think it has been edited technically rather you can sense the feel of it being recorded live. I am not sure it would appeal to today’s youngster but who loves old music may like it.

Allan Faqir’s “Tarin paunda” is again an old song and it is not in Hindi. It’s a slow sindhi song. It’s a folk song. It won’t appeal the mass.

Mai Bhagi’s “Kari neem ke neechey” is also a song, which was recorded in old days has been added as it is and has not been edited using any technology. Mai Bhagi is a legendry Sindhi Singer. So if you are fan of old Sindhi song it would appeal you.

Overall I would give it 3.5 out of 5. Phir Wohi Raastey, Teri Meri Preet, Meri Maati and Allah Megh Dey are superb songs.

One can hear Ustaad M Jumman's 'Yaar Dhadee', Mai Bhaagi's 'Neem Key Neechay' and Allan Fakir's 'Tarrin Paunda' on Ramchand Pakistani OST. These are songs that listeners in Pakistan may know well but for listeners abroad, these are unknown numbers.

I am yet to watch the movie and heard it is doing great in international film festivals.
